I'm your entertainer

I pour my heart and soul
Into my craft
I blister my fingers
I cut my hands
I strain my vocal cords
I serenade you
I speak to you
I write for you
I describe your dreams
I watch you eat
While my stomach growls
I take a little break
And you all scowl
I get different food
I'm limited to a few drinks
I'm barely paid
I'm often betrayed
I'm often cheated
I'm doubted and judged

Yet you expect perfection
You want commitment to the moment
You want punctuality
You want the best.

Don't I deserve better?
I bare my soul
For that is my craft.
