Sampy Sally

You always remind me:
Of hidden 5Stars and cashew
Of well-arranged idlis with chutney
Of snaking mangoes and avakkai
Of kulfis and vijaya bakery
Of 'pattu-cheera' or bling designer sarees
Of diamond and gold jewelry
Of 'dobbesify'ing and 'daachipettey'ing
Of youth and 'oldies'
Of royalty and regality
Of international views and traditional sentiment
Of being avant-garde yet set in ways
Of luxury and frugality
Of dreaming and being grounded
Of gongura and pizza
Of 'chattalu' and 'aasthi'
Of baatik lipstick and Elizabeth Arden
Of velvet soft skin and curious eyes
Of wriggling raised eyebrows and pouting lips
And they're wonderful things to be reminded of, anytime.
